Blood in Stool

The mixing of blood with bowel movements, making the toilet water red or streaking stool or toilet paper. Sometimes eating certain things can change the color of your stool. For instance, beets can turn stool red, while iron pills can turn stool black.

Possible causes of blood in stool:

Hemorrhoids
Angiodysplasia (Diverticular Disease)
Ulcer or Ulcerative Colitis
Gastritis
Esophageal varices
Intestinal Tumors or Polips

Fissures or Polyps
Constipation
Meckel's Diverticulum
Volvulus (Intussusception)
